Invisible Children.

Last night, we kicked off the 30-hour famine at Youth Group, and we watched the film Invisible Children. It's a student documentary, done by a few college kids about child soldiers in the LRA in Uganda...focusing on the hundreds of kids that live on the street as refugees from their imprisonment as child soldiers. It was definitely a film that connected well with high-school age...and it was a great start to our kids being motivated to do something about it.

They're starting a bracelet campaign this month that I'm pretty excited about. Check out their website for more info!!!

Hi Heather!
I'm reading your blog after getting the link from Jessica and Nate's site. I was roomates with Jessica in Bible college. Your blog is very entertaining!

I had to post a comment on this particular entry because I work at World Vision and think about those child soldiers and the girls used as sex slaves all the time. It is absolutely horrific and I'm glad you were able to hear what's going on and share it with the students you are reaching out to. Did you check out the AIDS experience at Pier 66 in downtown Seattle? We got to take a field trip from work to walk through the lives of 4 different children in situations like the children who are abducted from their homes and forced to be soldiers. It was a great eye-opener. There were other children too, those that are orphaned from AIDS and forced to take care of the younger siblings, when they are only 11 yrs old (or younger in some cases).

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
