I returned from Anaheim yesterday to discover that the entire Northwest is flooding. Here's footage I shot of the "World's Largest Log Jam" as it traveled down the Skagit River. This was taken on the north side of the dike, which is about fifty feet from my backyard... |

Ok..as a scientist, I have to ask:
Are you in the 100 yr flood zone or are you on the top of a serious incline?
Neither...she's behind a serious dike. However, we all know that dikes NEVER give out, causing water to rush in and destroy an entire city. So she should be fine.
we have nice dikes...i trust them...because really, if i don't, i'm going to spend all day every day freaking out about it.
In WA they know how to build dikes. In other un-named states, they apparently don't... or WA government deals with the problem if they wonder about safety, while other city and state leadership don't when warned.
That was a totally cool picture, Heather. Any idea how far upstream that came from? Those trees look familiar, like maybe they were close to our home when we lived in Concrete.
So...it appears that the PNW continues to get pounded with rain. What's with closing Mt. Ranier park? 18" in one day? We get about 6 inches a year...that's like 3 years worth of rain in one day! Gosh.
